The French Agency for Food, Environment and Occupational Health & Safety is headed by a Director General. He performs all tasks which are not reserved for the Board of Administrators.
The Director General is assisted by:
- A Deputy Director General for Strategy and International Affairs, who replaces him when on leave, absent or otherwise unable to perform his duties;
- A Deputy Director General for Scientific Affairs, who proposes the Agency's scientific principles and orientations, in association with the Director of Animal Health and Welfare and the Directors of the Risk Assessment Department, the French Agency for Veterinary Medicinal Products (ANMV) and the Scientific Affairs Department for Laboratories. He also liaises with the Scientific Board;
- A Deputy Director General for Resources (human, financial, technical, legal and IT).
The Director of Animal Health and Welfare is responsible for ensuring the overall consistency of the organisation's policy in terms of animal health and welfare and for promoting the Agency's actions in this area.
