The Agency's remit is to assess and educate, to which end: · It handles the collection and evaluation of data already available about foodstuffs (CIQUAL [French Data Centre on Food Quality] nutritional database, reports on nutritional requirements, etc.) and it participates in France's National Nutrition and Health Programme. It approves guides on the subject (nutrition and food risk) · It conducts research (Individual and national enquiry on food consumption -INCA) and participates, through its expert opinion, in health protection and in the implementation of regulations concerning the risk of illness related to food behaviour · It produces a large number of opinions on food product ingredients and allegations.
