The Agency contributes to health risk prevention by gathering and analysing information to enable abnormal or unusual incidents to be anticipated, detected early and characterised. This monitoring, alerting and informing role is conducted for the government and private players involved.
ANSES accomplishes its monitoring mission by ensuring health vigilance and surveillance as well as a scientific and technical watch in its fields of competence.
It is therefore involved in various types of networks: monitoring and vigilance networks but also research networks and work partnerships. It manages, leads or participates in networks seeking to gather and review data on factors that are likely to have an impact on health or nutrition risks.
Some examples of networks in which the Agency is involved:
Afssa coordinates the MED-VET-NET network, a European network of excellence working for the prevention and control of zoonoses.
It also manages the Salmonella network, whose objective is to describe, collect and characterise Salmonella serotypes of non-human origin at the national level, isolated in various sectors to detect trends and monitor their development in time and space.
It coordinates the Résapath network, which is in charge of monitoring antimicrobial resistance of pathogenic bacteria in animals.
It is a member of the French Animal Health Network (RFSA), a mirror group of the European Technology Platform for Global Animal Health.
