The Scientific Affairs Department for Laboratories is responsible for coordinating the laboratories' reference and research activities.
It ensures their scientific consistency with regard to the Agency's missions, in conjunction with the Deputy Director General for Scientific Affairs, as well as with the Director of Animal Health and Welfare in the latter's area of expertise.
Specifically, the Scientific Affairs Department for Laboratories is responsible for:
- initiating, leading and coordinating all the laboratories' activities for reference, research, and technical and scientific expertise;
- monitoring, in conjunction with the Human Resources Department, the recruitment and promotion policy for the laboratories' scientific and technical personnel;
- monitoring, in conjunction with the Financial and Technical Affairs Department, issues relating to movable and immovable investments for the laboratories;
- implementing the policy of collective evaluation of the entities' research activities and individual evaluation of researchers, according to the procedures adopted after consulting the Scientific Board.
