Note that Afssa issues scientific opinions and makes recommendations for its responsible ministries. It does not make any risk management decisions, as these fall within the remit of the ministries (Health, Agriculture and Consumer Affairs). Feel free to consult the ministries respective websites to find out about regulations, ministerial orders and decisions.

Afssa is competent to issue marketing authorisations for veterinary medicinal products, plant protection products, fertilisers and crop supports. It cannot receive requests from individuals or address issues within the remit of the DGCCRF (Directorate General for Consumer Affairs, Competition and Fraud Control) in the field of food hygiene.
